WHY JOIN OPEN TRAILS ATV CLUB?
WHY JOIN ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE ASSOCIATION
OF MINNESOTA (ATVAM)?

ATV clubs and ATVAM are important to the health and future of off-highway recreation. When you think about it, you can divide the reasons why clubs and ATVAM are important into offensive and defensive categories.

Offensive Reasons:

  • Clubs gain respect for the sport and the rider in the public eye.
  • A club can promote responsible operation and safety that benefits everyone
  • Clubs provide camaraderie, fun, family events, and excursions.
  • For regulatory agencies and land managers, clubs and ATVAM provide a pool of expertise and information on the sport.
  • In most cases, a club is the key to gaining trails.

Defensive Reasons:

  • A club and ATVAM speaks with one voice for a larger group of riders and they are taken seriously.
  • Clubs and ATVAM increase the rider’s clout with regulatory agencies, elected officials, and land mangers.
  • Each club is a local area to the ground for all clubs and riders. By forming a club or network of clubs, the riders are organized and ready for political action to promote or defend the sport.

BY JOINING A CLUB AND ATVAM, THE RIDER HAS A VOICE TO RESPOND TO THE OPPOSITION OF OFF ROAD VEHICLE OPERATION

Clubs and ATVAM can accomplish things that individual riders can’t. That has been shown repeatedly throughout the U.S. and Minnesota. Recreationists are being taken seriously by elected officials and management agencies.

Without organized representation, riders face an uncertain future.

Over regulation at state and federal levels is an ever-present threat. Preservationists will ride roughshod over us because we are not organized. There will be no places to ride (and law enforcement will crack down on illegal riding).

BOTH LOCAL CLUBS AND STATE ASSOCIATIONS LIKE ATVAM ARE IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE OF ATV RECREATION. OPEN TRAILS ATV CLUB BY LAWS REQUIRES ALL MEMBERS TO BE MEMBERS OF ATVAM.
